Jan McCredie, is a highly celebrated and respected urban designer, planner, and architect who has made a significant professional contribution through her roles in the private sector and State and Local Government over the past 35 years. She is an expert in urban design and the relationship between urban design, planning and architecture and holds Masters Degrees in Architecture and Urban Design and a Diploma in Town and Country Planning. Jan is a passionate advocate of the role of design as a basis for innovative planning. She has extensive experience in stakeholder liaison and community involvement in the planning process and detailed technical knowledge of the implications of planning controls on design and development outcomes. Jan is an experienced public speaker and presenter.
As Director of UDAS she implemented the Premiers Design Excellence Programme and set the direction of SEPP 65 and the RFDC (Now ADG). Her work has won numerous awards including the 2005 PIA Strategic Urban Design National Award. She is currently Director of Urban Design at City of Parramatta Council.
Jan was awarded The Marion Mahoney Griffin Award  by the Australian Institute of Architects for “her lifetime commitment to urban design, her passion as an educator, and her integrity and vision”. She is a Life Fellow Australian Institute of Architects.
